Looking for a career in early childhood education, social services, or veterinary but don’t know where to get started?

On Thursday, November 6, 2014 from 1:15 – 2:30pm, Vancouver Career College will be hosting an info session for those who are interested in learning about how to enter these challenging and dynamic fields.

  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) requires a cornucopia of hard and soft skills. Primarily working with infants and toddlers, early childhood educators and assistants will provide care and guidance to children as young as three months. At such an impressionable age, ECEs can have a great impact on the mental, emotional, and psychological health and upbringing of a child. Students who graduate from the diploma program can continue to do a Post-Basic with focuses on Infant/Toddler Specialization or Special Needs Specialization. Guest Speaker: Mandy Purewal

  • Social services workers face a number of challenging situations on a daily basis. Cases can range from alcoholism, drug abuse, domestic violence, and more. While cases may seem similar, no two are identical. Just as important as any other career, social services professionals rely on their experiences to solve and resolve difficult situations they come across, which is why students enrolled in the Social Services Worker Foundation program will complete a mandatory practicum prior to graduation so they can employ and further develop the strategies they have learned in class on real cases. Students also have a choice between Recovery Specialist and Youth Specialist as well. Guest Speaker: Alana Dhillon

  • Veterinary assistants play a great role in animal care clinics and are essential to the smooth functioning of the office. As the veterinarian attends to other patients, they rely strongly on their assistants to monitor, document, and address any other issues in their absence. In such a sensitive field, organization, diligence, and strong observational skills are a must. Guest Speaker: Yazli Satleghi
