Seats Open for Those Hoping to Enter Career in Health Care

Opportunities continue to arise for well-trained health care professionals

Surrey, BC - March 1, 2010 - A major issue in the Canadian health care system is the shortage of nurses and other health related professionals. The fewer the nurses there working in the Canadian Health Care system, the higher the patient to nurse ratios are, which ultimately leads to greater exhaustion and job dissatisfaction. As our population ages and many nurses leave the profession for retirement, a greater burden is placed on those nurses left behind.

An important way to combat this shortage is to open up more nursing seats at health care colleges across the country. By increasing the number of seats available to new nursing students, you increase the number of new nurses entering the workforce. This ultimately lowers nurse-patient ratios and helps take the burden off experienced nurses. Job satisfaction and likelihood they will remain in the profession therefore also increases, creating a more successful, efficient health care system.

Those interested in entering a nursing profession can look to Vancouver Career College's Practical Nursing and Health Care Assistant diploma programs. Both programs have grads trained and entering the workforce in as little as one year.
