Burnaby, BC - It's never too late to go back to school - something graduate Eun Sook Song learned first-hand at Vancouver Career College. A self-proclaimed housewife, Song recently graduated from the Practical Nursing program in Burnaby; an event that changed her life.
"I took the program to have a better life and it led me to reach my goals," Song said of her experience.
The Practical Nursing program at Vancouver Career College involves 52-weeks of intensive training and is paired with three practicum placements. Despite the rigorous schedule, the program continues to be one of the school's most popular, and for Eun Sook Song, the hard work was worth it.
"Studying in English was a big challenge for me. It was study, study, study; but I made it!"
The program, based on guidelines and standards from the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia (CLPNBC), prepares students for careers in acute care wards, private homes, public schools and long-term care facilities. Eun Sook Song was lucky enough to land a job straight out of the Practical Nursing program at Vancouver Career College.
"I am now a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Victoria. My life now is very different." Song said after graduation.
Song, like all students in the Practical Nursing program at Vancouver Career College, received hands-on training during her multiple practicum placements, participated in job search training and was taken on by an industry mentor. Combined, these experiences set her up for a successful new career.
Students who may not have sought out higher education in the past, like new immigrants and stay-at-home moms, can benefit from the flexible program schedules and one-on-one instruction that helped Eun Sook Song start her exciting new life in Canada.
