Natural talent can be complemented by legal assistant training
Coquitlam, BC - March 19, 2010 - The face of a legal assistant is of course as diverse as any other profession, but there are certain characteristics that you'll want to hone through education, if pursuing legal assistant training.
Clear and Effective Communication
Communication skills are vital for legal assistants, whether through telephone conversations or personal contact with clients. Many times the legal assistant is the first person a client meets, so learning or becoming a "people" person will help in many aspects of the job - from conducting interviews to discussing deals.
Multi-tasking and Attention to Detail
A legal assistant may wear many hats and will also be responsible for a wide range of duties. These may include simple tasks like answering the phone or more complex duties like drafting legal documents. The ability to multi-task, yet keep a keen eye on the details, is an important skill for a legal assistant to attain.
Writing Skills
From letters to clients to drafting documents for court, a legal assistant will need to be able to write clearly and concisely as well as accurately and sometimes persuasively.
These traits can be acquired through education, but if you're already a natural in these areas, your legal assistant training will only help to set you further apart from the competition.
